An Interview with Ryan Keely (formerly Maria Menendez)

Multi-talented latina babe Ryan Keely (formerly known as Maria Menendez) was kind enough to spend some time with me to answer questions on a Sunday morning for an exclusive interview with LatinBabeIndex.com.I first discovered Ryan Keely on MySpace and was redirected to her website and immediately could tell that this girl is not only gorgeous but she also has a unique personality that I found very interesting and sexy.  This interview offers you a glimpse into the mind and personality of this super amazing woman who is creative, artistic, funny, intelligent, and a borderline nymphomaniac. You used to go by Maria Menendez - explain why you changed your name and how is Ryan Keely a different person than Maria Menendez?
I couldn’t trademark Maria Menendez. I used it when I worked in the industry with my clothes on, and I did a few titles with that name.But as I realized how serious I was about pursuing a career as a nude model, I also realized that using my real name wouldn’t give me an obvious way to disconnect from the fantasy I am playing out.

How many movies were you in as Maria Menendez?
Not sure, only two I want to admit to. They were by Andrew Blake and 3rd Degree but I am not sure of the titles.
(NOTE: Ryan is referencing her appearances in “Andrew Blake X1” and 3^rd Degree’s “Finger Licking Good” which is a hot bath tub scene with Sasha Grey”)Do you plan on being in more films as Ryan Keely or do you only want to produce your own content for your personal website?

I shoot for other people and I’m with LADirect (Adult Agency LADirect Models) right now. I think it is important to work for other companies for many reasons. Working for more than my site gets my name out to fans of whatever director or company I happen to be shooting for. It’s important to work with new directors and photographers. It forces you to grow as a model, you learn to trust the artists and submit to their vision. Modeling and performing is a collaboration between the artist and the model/s and when you open yourself up to suggestion, the creativity and the sexuality just happens. It’s fun to get to that place with new people. That’s why I like having an agent, I work with people I never would have sought out on my own and I meet great girls on set, sometimes we work together, sometimes we don’t.

Are there any specific directors and/or photographer that you would like to work with?
I would love to work with Terry Richardson, but it is my understanding that he is no longer shooting nudes.

I want to work with John Leslie, he is my favorite adult director of all time. I want to work with mainsteam people on a lark.

So, before you got into the business, were you watching a lot of porn?
I reviewed adult DVDs for over two years. I had a weekly show on KSEX Radio and Playboy.

I also wrote reviews for Wantedlist.com and I worked as the DVD buyer for Hustler San Diego back in my salad days. So yes. I also bought DVDs for WantedList. I started working at Hustler at the age of 18, and I won’t admit to seeing any adult movies underage.

Oh come on….I think everybody has done that…LOL
I was always interested in sexuality. I sought out and read every related book I could find. I started my research at the age of 11 and it’s evolved since then.

When you say books - are you referring to erotica?
Erotica, how to guides, psychology…lots of psychology books. I was bored by most erotic fiction, and still am.

So one day you decided that you wanted to not only review, but perform as well?
Becoming a performer is part of my ongoing quest to understand my sexuality

Psychology plays a major part in sexuality….do you find most gonzo scenes to be boring?  It is not that the traditional story lines in porn are all that exciting either, but the movies in which there is a bit of character development and getting into the mind of the character can go a long way…would you agree with that?
Boring is bad casting! If you turn a camera on individuals who are enjoying have sex and are able to capture it with some skill, you have something great. Sex is beautiful!

So there needs to be some level of connection between the performers?  Are there any performers you are itching to work with?
I’m shooting with Paola Rey and I look forward to that.

When does RyanKeely.com officially launch?
It is scheduled to launch towards the end of May 2008.

What will your visitors expect to find on RyanKeely.com?
Photos, videos and me. Foot fetishism, bondage, squirting, and exhibitionism and lots of glamour. I’ll have some casual and amateur stuff as well. I will be doing webcams but I haven’t decided if that will be site exclusive yet.

It sounds like it is going to be hot and a lot of new stuff your fans have not seen yet.

You mentioned that you would like to one day work with mainstream, in what capacity?
Any and all. I love production. I studied theater as a kid, I’m a trained actress, artist model. I love art and the production of it. I know most people would say doing porn is a bad idea if you want to go ‘mainstream’ but art is expressing emotion. And I have the courage to show the world my rawest and most vulnerable moments.

I would want to be in movies like the ones Andy Warhol used to make before they got super pornographic.

Marcel Duchampe made movies too. I would like to be in weird art movies or bad horror movies. I love cult shit, John Waters. Sex and art are the only things I care about.

I loved Grindhouse…I could totally see you in Deathproof.
I would rock that shit! But if you like Tarantino, check out Takeshi Miike and Wong Kar Wai - Tarantino rips them off so hard.

Is there anyone in mainstream that you fantasize of? I am not sure if that is a fair question or not?

I would totally do Adrian Brody. If I could time travel, Betty Davis, the rock star. Not Bette Davis the actress. Shepard Fairey is hot, but married. John Frusciante. But for me to have sex with any of these people, they would have to be rad as well as hot.

So, you seem to have a genuine interest in music, as well as all other art.  What are the last 5 albums you have downloaded/bought etc.

• “Marina Gasolina” by Bonde Do Role. I am obsessed with that right now

  That’s 5 but I could keep going. I am a total music nerd.

I think music and sex are the only true universal languages.  By finding out your music interest, I think people can get a lot of insight into your personality.
Speed Metal, a blues album that was a hit on the punk rock scene, classic country, proto punk/glam rock and latin alternative electro pop says what about my personality?

It tells me that you have eclectic interests. It tells me that you are open minded, adventurous and you love to explore.
Actually I’m a snot and I have to out nerd my friends. ;D. And I have fabulous taste.
