The Latina Adult Performer of the Decade Award, sponsored by http://www.latinbabeindex.com has ended and Nina Mercedez has been announced as the winner.

The Latina of the Decade Award celebrates the achievements of the adult industries most influential Latin performers based on performances between 2000-2009.  8 Finalists were selected from an esteemed panel of adult entertainment journalists and webmasters.  From March 15^th through April 30^th 2010, fans were then asked to vote for their favorite Latina of the Decade at http://latinapornawards.com

Nina Mercedez, who already owns the title of Miss Nude Universe, said that she has the greatest fans in the world and it was their dedication that allowed her to run away with the award. Nina posted on her Twitter account, “My fans are the best. They were dedicated to the cause. I love them!” Nina received an impressive 42.8% of the votes and offered incentives such as signed 8x10s and free webcam shows to her fans to keep them voting once every three hours as the rules permitted.

Social Networking played a role in the award as many of the finalists, as well as their fans, encouraged participation and votes through sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace.

The award garnered much attention from mainstream foreign publications such as El Comercio in Peru, El Grafico in Mexico, and Unoentrerios in Argentina. In addition, there was a lot of discussion and debate on numerous adult entertainment message boards.

First runner-up was Alexis Amore who also proved to have very loyal fans.  Alexis Amore received quite a bit of support from her home country of Peru and was featured on the nightly news.  The six other finalists (in order of voting percentage) were:  Jenaveve Jolie, Rebeca Linares, Eva Angelina, Carmen Luvana, Sativa Rose, and Gina Lynn.
